The Wahini (plural Wahines, also Hula Girl) is a recurring Earthling in the ToeJam & Earl series.
In all appearances, they cause the player to begin dancing uncontrollably when in proximity. Whilst the Hula Girls cannot harm ToeJam or Earl, they can be a nuisance if causing you to stop and dance while a more dangerous Earthling is in the area, leaving the player open to attack.
Appearances[]
ToeJam & Earl[]
- "Wahines are young Hawaiian maidens with a strange and compelling charm. Wearing only skirts made of grass, and leis of flowers, these Earth creatures spend all their time doing the Hula. Anyone who gets close to them will find joining them in this strange alien dance all but irresistible. In fact, the closer one gets to a Wahini, the harder it is to resist dancing. As pleasent as this may seem, it can be quite annoying when one is being pursued by a more hostile Earthling."

Standing right next to a Hula Girl will almost certainly result in uncontrollable dancing, but will also cause ToeJam or Earl to exclaim "Aloha!", although the subtitles read "Hubba Hubba!".
The Hula Girls on the 'secret level' of Level 0 are much less of a nuisance, as there are no threats on this level. Also, getting into the jazuzzi with the bathing Hula Girls will fully replenish health. Buying a lemonade from the stall will give an extra life.
ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth[]
Wahines have an expanding circle of flowers to indicate their area-of-effect.
ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove[]
- "E Komo Mai!"
- — Puanani
Wahines are much the same as they are in the first game, and can still become a nuisance if causing you to stop and dance while a hostile Earthling is in the area. However, the Wahines are slightly more useful in this game, as if you get close enough may result in receiving a kiss that will replenish health.
'Level 0' also appears in this game, much the same as it does in the first game, complete with lemonade stand that will give an extra life and jacuzzi that will refill health. There are also new additions to this 'Level 0', including named Wahines - such as Puanani, who you can have a 'Jam Out' dance competition with. The Wahines in the jacuzzi are named as Kawai and Alani, and will engage in extensive dialogue. Uniquely, there are also male Hawaiian dancers on this level.
