The Devil, also called Little Devil, Lil' Devil and Costumed Devil, is a recurring type of nuisance Earthling in the ToeJam & Earl series.

The Lil Devil is a dimunitive, red-skinned humanoid creature with horns, hooved feet, and a forked tail. When idle, it will either sleep, or dance happily.
The Lil Devil is a low-level threat that appears from Level 2 onwards, the first level in which Earthlings appear. It is one of the more common enemies in the game. It often found sleeping, and if so can be sneaked past.
If awake or woke up, and if ToeJam and/or Earl get too close, the Lil Devil will chase you with glee and poke you with its small pitchfork. This only does minor damage. However, the damage can stack quickly if you don't evade the creature or 'pop' it with tomatoes. The Lil Devil can prove more a threat in groups.

Devils have a chance of appearing when you respawn after falling off a level. Devils cannot be converted.

Little Devils[]

There are three different forms of the Little Devil in the game. The first is the standard red variant, which does only minor damage. It appears and behaves much the same as it did in the original game.
Costumed Devils[]
- "This little devil is actually just a normal Little Devil in a "Really Scary Devil" costume. It isn't any faster or stronger than a normal devil. It's just a wannabe."

The second is the costumed variant, which wears a 'Really Scary Devil' costume but in stats in no different to the standard form.
Really Scary Devils[]

The third variant is the Really Scary Devil, which appears on later levels. It can be identified by its purple skin, glowing eyes, and small flame on top of its head. It is faster and does more damage than the standard or costumed form.
